Overview

Since the last three years, I've been designing, managing and developing the New Era Technology websites.

With the success of the UK site redesign project, I was handed over the responsibility to redesign, develop and maintain the company group website too. Currently, I am working on creating a global website for all New Era Technology regions (USA, UK, Australia and New Zealand) under Wordpress multisite.

Project role

UX/UI Designer and Frontend Team Lead

I have been leading all website projects to create, develop and maintain New Era websites. I liaise with marketing team to make sure the websites are designed according to brand guidelines and business needs. I do a lot of research and make technical suggestions which would help in achieving the website needs. I design and build cross-browser compatabile websites. I work closely with quality assurance team and fix any issues and bugs which arise from testing.

Technical challenge

While leading the multisite project, the real big challenge was trying to merge current database from single site to a multisite network. I spent a lot trying to understand the details of table differences and used local environment to make changes and then successfully deploying the database to the server. I've surely learnt a lot more about WordPress, creating and modifying child themes, also manage some specific theme modifications with PHP interventions.

Design involvement

For the current global website project, I am bringing all group and region websites under one umbrella, so that all websites look similar and keep the brand image. Clean and simple layouts always help to give the best user experience. The header images, unique diagrams and graphical icons, uplifts the content and page designs.
